17 and counting..

I have been blessed to be married to my best friend for 17 years as of 01/06/2013. We have been through so much together.

We met at square dancing (yes I said square dancing) thanks to his mother insisting that I give her son a call and invite him to come out to lessons. I knew that she would be back the next week so I figured I would call him and just invite him, that way she couldn't say that I didn't. Little did I know that he would actually show up!

We exchanged numbers and our first date was the very next weekend. The date went good, but I got home and my Mom had asked how it went. My exact words were, "He talks to much and is to much of a city boy." Apparently, the hubs had told his parents that I was, "To country bumpkin for him." Needless to say, we have been together ever since then.  So my Mother In Law claims to this day she got to pick her sons wife! HA!

We said our "I do's" on January 6,1996 in front of God, a standing room only church full of our closest friends and family. We traveled to Disney World for our honey moon, as I am the BIGGEST Mickey Mouse fan you will ever meet. So our lives had begun as husband and wife.

We lived in Oklahoma for a couple of years. Then opportunities came up with my husbands career, that moved us to Florida, then to Texas, then eventually we came back home to Oklahoma. We have been here ever since, as this is where most of our immediate family is.

Our son was born while we were living in Texas and has been a delight to raise. Though he can be a challenge at times, due to being 10 going on 20, he is still a true blessing. He is a really, thoughtful, caring, helpful child, when he thinks no one is looking. He is extremely smart and strives to be the best at whatever he does.

The hubs and I took this past weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He took me back to the very bed & breakfast that we stayed in on our wedding night 17years ago. Though it has changed owners since then, has been remodeled, it still had that special feeling that it did the first time we visited there. We had a wonderful weekend of relaxing and just being in each others company.

I am truly blessed to be loved by a man like my husband. I have been told that I deserve a purple heart for putting up with him, but I wouldn't trade any of it. I look forward to spending many more years with him and seeing what the future holds.
